The new purpose built studio will contain a specialist dance floor, sprung to avoid potential injuries, a full length mirrored wall to allow students to analyse and assess their own performance and technique, and fixed ballet barres for smooth movement through class work. In addition to this the students will have their own changing rooms, a small waiting room for the parents with WIFI access for students completing multiple classes in one evening and most importantly for any dance studio a little bit of glitter!

Miss Beccy

Miss Beccy began dancing at the age of 3 with her local ballet teacher Christine Atkinson who is now an international examiner with the Royal Academy of Dance. At 10 years old Beccy successfully auditioned for Elmhurst in association with The Birmingham Royal Ballet, where she recieved full time vocational ballet training from some of the best teachers and professional dancers in the world. Along side Ballet she trained in Modern, Jazz, Tap, Contemporary, Spanish and Musical Theatre.

At the age of 16 she moved to Australia alone where she trained with Ecole Ballet & Dance Theatre and completed her training to Advanced Level. Unfortunately Beccy sustained an injury which ended her performance career. When she returned to England she gained her teaching qualification with The Royal Academy of Dance in order to pass on her knowledge to young eager students. Beccy is married with 2 daughters, Zara & Isla.

Miss Wendy

Miss Wendy

Miss Wendy has studied ballet since the age of 3 and at her peak attended numerous classes 6 days a week for a number of years including attending Swindon Dance. Here she was a member of Swindon Youth Dance Academy and Swindon Youth Talent Programme, the precusor for the now highly acclaimed Swindon Youth Dance Academy.

After gaining GCSE and A Level dance, she attended Middlesex University and graduated with a BA (HONS) in Dance Peformance. Having focussed predominantly in Contemporary Dance during her degree programme, Wendy missed regular ballet training and so has undertaken her ballet teacher training with the Royal Academy of Dance. She completed her training in the Summer of 2010 and Miss Beccy mentored her through the programme. She now holds RAD Registered Teacher Status.

Miss Genevieve

Genevieve trained full time in Ballet, Tap, Modern, Jazz, Hip hop, Contemporary and National Dance and has performed all over the UK. Genevieve has now been teaching for various dance and stage schools for over 6 years including the commissioning of new choreography and stage productions. Genevieve is delighted to have joined The FitzGraham Academy of Dance working in the modern and tap department and looks forward to helping the school go from strength to strength.

Miss Leah

Miss Leah

Miss Leah has been dancing since the age of 2 where she trained in Ballet, Tap Modern and Jazz at Swindon Academy of Dance. Dancing has been a fun exciting part of her life where she has competed in numerous dance festivals around the UK; including the All England Dance Finals, the Ballet and Tap awards and the Janet Cram awards. Leah has also enjoyed dancing on the stage in numerous dance shows with Swindon Academy of Dance and the summer youth Project ‘FAME’ at the Wyvern Theatre.

Leah has been an assistant dance teacher for 7 years and teaching for 1 year, she has gained her qualifications in A-level Dance and FDI Modern and Tap. Leah is continuing with her CDE dance teaching qualifications and is extremely happy to be a part of the Fitzgraham Academy of Dance.

Miss Sophie

Sophie began singing and dancing at the age of 6 when she joined the Kentwood Junior Choir under the instruction of Sheila Harrod and The Tanwood School of Dance. At the age of 16 she took up a full time place at The Judith Hockaday School of Dance and Drama where she completed her “Foundation in Dance Instruction” (FDI) and “Certificate in Dance Instruction” (CDI) in ISTD Imperial Ballet, National Dance, Modern Theatre Dance and Tap Dance. She has successfully completed voice grades 1-7 with the Associated Board (ABRSM) Grade 8 Musical Theatre (LCM and has gained her diploma in Musical Theatre with the London College of Music. Sophie also gained Grades 1-5 Piano and Theory (ABRSM).

Performance experience includes: Thoroughly Modern Millie, My Fair Lady, Singing in the Rain, Godspell, Bugsy Malone (Fizzy), Fiddler on the Roof (Hodel), The Sound of Music (Brigitta). Sophie has sung in many performances of Bill Kenwright’s touring production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat, A Tribute to Abba and A Night at the Musicals with Duncan Breeze.

Whilst living in Ireland, Sophie reached the quarter finals of the All Ireland singing competition and was the chosen soloist for Elaine Paige on her visit to Ireland.
