Ballet
The dictionary describes Ballet as:
“A classical dance form characterized by grace and precision of movement and by elaborate formal gestures, steps, and poses.”
The majority of our Ballet classes at FitzGraham are Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) syllabus. We encourage our students to progress through the grades with exams, presentation classes and class awards.
We offer classes in Ballet from toddlers (18months) right the way through to adult.
Tap
The dictionary defines Tap Dance as:
“A dance in which the rhythm is sounded out by the clicking taps on the heels and toes of a dancer’s shoes.”
Tap at FitzGraham is taught using the ISTD syllabus. Exams are encouraged to give the students a sense of achievement at each level.
We offer Tap classes to Children aged 4 and up. We also have non-syllabus Tap classes for Adults, it’s a great way to stay active.
Modern and Jazz
The Dictionary says, Modern Dance is:
“A style of theatrical dance that rejects the limitations of classical ballet and favors movement deriving from the expression of inner feeling.”
As with Tap, we follow ISTD syllabus for most of our modern classes, again encouraging exams at each grade for the students.
We do hold some non syllabus classes in Modern and Jazz, these are favoured by our students taking GCSE dance as they find it helpful to broaden their knowledge in dance.
Our modern classes are open to students aged 3 and upwards.
Hip Hop
Our non syllabus Hip Hop classes are popular with students wishing to learn dance to current music. If you are wondering what exactly Hip Hop is, think music videos and commercial dance.
We offer Hip Hop to students aged 4 years and over.
